Property Taxes

Illinois families pay the highest property taxes in the nation. Government should not be funded on the backs of property taxpayers, period! Dave believes homeowners, farmers, and small business owners should be able to keep more of their hard-earned money.

Homeownership should be attainable and affordable for young families, and seniors should not have to live in fear of being able to afford to live in the home they spend a lifetime paying for.

Dave supports:

  • Lowering the property tax burden on families and seniors.

  • Proud to have sponsored legislation for Senior Property Tax exemptions and credits

  • Opposing unfunded mandates that drive up local property taxes.

  • Supports increasing transparency and accountability in government spending.

Education

Every child deserves access to a quality education that meets their individual needs and prepares them for success. Dave believes parents not government bureaucrats should have the primary role in directing their children's education.

Dave believes every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, whether they attend a public school, private school, charter school, trade program, or are educated at home. Parents know their children best, and Illinois should support not restrict their ability to make educational decisions.

Every family deserves to feel safe in their home, neighborhood, and community. Dave believes supporting law enforcement and ensuring public safety are fundamental responsibilities of government. He is committed to standing with the men and women who serve and protect our communities every day.

Dave supports:

Health Care & Insurance

Quality health care should be accessible, affordable, and patient-centered. Dave believes decisions about medical care should be made by patients and their doctors, not bureaucrats in Springfield.

Dave strongly opposes the State of Illinois shifting costs for noncitizen healthcare on the backs of working family’s health plans. He also opposed the State of Illinois taxing insurance companies over $1 billion annually knowing those costs would be shifted to consumers with rising premiums.

  • Reducing health insurance costs for families and small businesses.

  • Increasing competition in the health care marketplace.

  • Protecting rural and community health care services.

Jobs & Opportunity

Illinois should be a place where businesses grow, jobs are created, and young people can build successful careers without leaving the state. Illinois can grow its way into prosperity; it cannot tax its way into prosperity.
